The victim, Kalyan Ghosh, alleged that TMC councillor Joydeep Dutta masterminded the blast. "Three TMC men fled away when people came out hearing the blast," he said.

BJP on Saturday lodged a complaint with Election Commission, but TMC denied the charge. BJP supporters mobbed Ranaghat police station, demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
