Addressing a meeting of party workers from 11 Bihar districts, Shah called for sinking of differences over ticket distribution and work towards the victory of NDA candidates – an acknowledgement of internal issues flaring up during the process of ticket distribution.

Dubbing rival parties in the state as “pseudo-secular”, Shah said that since these parties can’t match BJP’s development agenda, they are trying to raise issues of identity politics that are past their sell-by dates.

Describing Nitish as a “backstabber”, Shah said he broke away from the BJP for his own political aspirations. “He joined Lalu, the architect of 15-years jungle raj in Bihar. Nitish’s vision of development rests on the shoulders of Lalu, a symbol of under-development and lawlessness,” Shah said.
“The country under Narendra Modi is taking giant strides,” he said, adding, “There has been a dramatic change in the perception about the country at the international level. During Manmohan Singh’s tenure, even small countries seemed to rub us the wrong way.”
