BJP on Monday expressed concern in Parliament over supply of poor quality of food to the armed forces.
BJP member Prabhat Jha raised the issue of supply of sub-standard food items to the armed forces in Rajya Sabha. Giving them sub-standard foodgrains was a national crime, Jha said adding how could the jawans be expected to fight for the nation if they are fed this kind of a diet.
He also expressed concern over incidents of alleged corruptioninvolving some Army officers citing the example of the Sukna landscam.
BJP leader Kalraj Mishra also raised the issue of Ganga waterpollution, saying serious efforts are required by the government to checkit.
Sharing the members' concern during Zero Hour on pollution ofGanga and drying up of the river bed, environment minister Jairam Ramesh saidthe government would like to ensure clean and continuous flow of water in theriver.
Rudra Narayan Pany of BJP raised the issue of allegedviolation of Forest Dwellers Act in Orissa by steel major Posco, which isimplementing its Rs 52,000-crore project.
He blamed the stategovernment for allowing the project to proceed even when the rights of theforest dwellers were not protected.
