new delhi: the catholic bishops' conference of india (cbci) has expressed shock and surprise at the reported statement of rss chief k s sudarshan, at nagpur, calling upon muslims and christians to reinterpret their scriptures and to change their leadership. archbishop oswald gracias, secretary general of the cbci, termed sudarshan's statement as ``tantamount to interference in the affairs of the muslims and christians.'' according to cbci, ``his statement will dampen the spirit of initial talks begun with the rss to clear the already existing misunderstandings.'' on sudarshan's call to the rss cadres to ``arm themselves against any threats'', cbci feels it is ``no different from the taliban call to arms.'' cbci has also condemned the attack on christians in bawahlpur, pakistan, in which 18 people were killed.
