'Bihar is dirty because of our habits': Man appeals to train passengers to not litter; video goes viral
A video of a man politely requesting his fellow train passengers to avoid littering has gone viral on social media, with netizens applauding his efforts.
In the video, the person could be heard saying: "One minute, everyone here, if you are using your phone, please switch it off for two minutes and pay attention. See, the government has given us this train. This is our home. If we are carrying such a big bag with us, we should also carry a small plastic bag."
"All the people coming here to sell goods, we buy them, but then we throw things down. Is this the right thing to do? Say something, yes or no? Instead, people often say, ‘India is dirty, Bihar is dirty.' But it's because of our habits," he said.
The video drew positive comments with one social media user calling it "truly inspiring".
"Truly inspiring! This young man from Bihar shows that real change doesn’t need noise, just awareness and action. His simple gesture of asking passengers not to litter reflects true civic sense. If more youth follow this path, Bihar can lead a cleaner, more responsible future," said Koppula Mahender in a post on X.
However, another user said that it was the government's responsibility. "Should come from the authorities. Otherwise people will take is personal," they said.
One user also appreciated is approach saying: "Yes, they may get triggered emotionally if approached individually but if we create a social appeal that creates a social pressure different from the pressure of being put on the spot in the crowd."

Why always blame Bihar or UP and brand them as people with out civic sense, when in our own so called highly Educated South with high civic sense is way behind. Other day a Lady with 3 children was travelling with us in train. The children were eating snacks and littered over the floor. Felt she wud pick up. But, she was too busy advising. Not tolerating this offered a paper to pick it up and throw it in Bin. But, she pushed it under the seat and even children walked over it. After some time Ground nuts ended the same way even making my luggage to border with the peal. This was up to Chennai. Conclusion : It's only the individual civic sense than a state or Region. Sense of belonging that Railways or Buses or any public places belongs to us our Country, should be grounded well I'm the heads of Elders then in our Children. Throwing out, of Train Windows shd ne made punishable with Fine Equivalent to Train fare.Read allPost comment
