Bihar Assembly Election 2025 Live Updates: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi began his Bihar Assembly election campaign on Wednesday by addressing his first rallies in the state. He will hold two joint public meetings with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav — the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate — in Sakra (Muzaffarpur) and Darbhanga.
Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, on Tuesday unveiled its election manifesto titled ‘Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran’ for the Bihar Assembly polls. The announcement was made in the presence of RJD leader and alliance’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief and Deputy CM candidate Mukesh Sahani, Congress leader Pawan Khera, and CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya.
At the event, Congress leader Pawan Khera said the Opposition alliance was the first to declare its Chief Ministerial candidate and the first to release its manifesto. Taking a swipe at the NDA, he described their election promises as “jumla.”

According to the report, 423 candidates (32%) have declared criminal cases against themselves, while 354 (27%) face serious criminal charges. Of these, 33 candidates are accused in cases of murder, and 86 face charges of attempt to murder.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday launched his party’s campaign for the Bihar assembly elections, raising the question of why Bihar cannot have a Muslim chief minister when the community accounts for 17 per cent of the state’s population.
Addressing a rally in Gopalganj, around 20 km from the district headquarters, the Hyderabad MP criticised both the ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc, accusing them of sidelining Muslims. Owaisi’s party is contesting 32 seats in the election.
“Why cannot a Muslim, who represents 17 per cent of the state’s population, become the chief minister? After all, they seem to have no problem with promising the deputy CM’s post to a person who represents only three per cent of the population,” Owaisi said.

The Mahagathbandhan, which includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, on Tuesday unveiled its election manifesto titled ‘Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran’ for the Bihar Assembly polls. The announcement was made in the presence of RJD leader and alliance’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief and deputy CM candidate Mukesh Sahani, Congress leader Pawan Khera, and CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya.
At the event, Congress leader Pawan Khera said the Opposition alliance was the first to declare its Chief Ministerial candidate and the first to release its manifesto. Taking a swipe at the NDA, he described their election promises as “jumla.”
