Lalu Prasad Yadav and family’s troubles may deepen. Apart from action by the income-tax department, the
Enforcement Directorate, too, is probing their alleged benami properties and irregular financial transactions.
Based on information gathered from Rajesh Agarwal, the chartered accountant of
Lalu Yadav’s daughter, the RJD Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharti, ED had asked its Patna office to verify a few details regarding two companies of
Misa Bharti and her husband, Shailesh Kumar, in the state capital.
Sources at ED’s Delhi headquarters said Agarwal had spilled crucial details of various shell companies and benami properties of a number of businessmen and political families, including that of Lalu, on the last day of his remand. “While probing the details of the two companies associated with Misa and Shailesh, it was found that they had given two addresses in Patna — one of Danapur and another of a location near Bihar Veterinary College.
Accordingly, the ED’s Patna office was asked to verify the addresses. A report was sent by Patna office to ED headquarters,” an ED official
