in Candolim was on Friday taken over by bankers' consortium, represented by
SBICAPS
.
On Wednesday,
North Goa collector and district magistrate Nila Mohanan had passed an order allowing banks to take physical possession of ‘Kingfisher Villa’.
The Villa, valued at Rs 90 crore, was liquor baron
Vijay Mallya’s base for hosting lavish parties in Goa.
SBICAPS officials started the process to take possession of the villa at 2.30pm and it continued for over two hours. The officials drew up an inventory of the property and other assets, including vehicles and electronic items.
The main gate to the property was sealed.
Representing the bankers' consortium, SBICAPS had sought physical possession of the property under Section 14 of the Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act in late 2014.
