BJP to finalise candidates for Uttarakhand polls tomorrow, 20 MLAs could be denied fresh run
The EC has issued notice to the SP over "violation" of Covid norms.
The Election Commission of India has asked General Secretary, Samajwadi Party (SP), to give an explanation over the alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct, Section 144, Covid protocols by the party on January 14 by "organising a public gathering" at the SP's Lucknow office.

Earlier on January 8, the EC had decided that no physical rallies, roadshow, pad-yatra, cycle/bike/vehicle rally and procession shall be allowed till January 15.
ECI directs state or district administration to ensure compliance of all instructions related to MCC and Covid protocols.
The EC has directed political parties to adhere to the provisions of MCC and broad guidelines of Covid.
The poll panel, however, granted a relaxation for the political parties to the extent that indoor meetings of maximum 300 persons or 50 per cent of the capacity of the hall, or the prescribed limit set by state disaster management authorities, an official statement said.
Election Commission has further banned poll rallies and roadshows in poll-bound states till January 22.
