Covid

cases have been decreasing at the slowest pace in the country in Assam, Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana and Odisha. Assam has recorded an average daily rate of decline of 2.2% since the seven-day rolling average of daily cases hit a peak in the state on May 22 — the lowest pace among all states except the smaller ones in the northeast.

Of particular concern would be the rate of fall in Kerala and Maharashtra, the two states that have been recording the highest number of fresh infections in recent days and where the count of active cases remains above 1 lakh.

Kerala has logged 2.7% rate of fall in daily cases, the second slowest after Assam, while in Maharashtra cases have been decreasing at a daily average of 3.2%.

At the other end, Rajasthan has registered the highest rate of fall in daily cases at 9.4%, followed by Uttarakhand (8.4%) and Delhi (8.2%).
