Assam BJP MLA car fired upon; CM warns Congress

GUWAHATI: Miscreants fired at a BJP MLA’s vehicle in poll-bound Samaguri in Assam on Saturday night, prompting BJP to accuse Congress of inciting violence ahead of the November 13 bypoll. Congress, in turn, alleged that CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s government was disrupting the peaceful atmosphere.

Condemning the firing on Barhampur MLA Jitu Goswami’s vehicle, Sarma said, “This is the same Congress that proudly displays the Constitution for the cameras, yet resorts to violence under the cover of darkness to intimidate BJP workers.
