Army captain, injured in Sopore encounter, dies
SRINAGAR: An Army captain, injured in an encounter a day earlier at Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. A Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Ubaidullah Bhai was also gunned down in the gun-battle.Baramulla DIG MuneerKhan said 21-Rashtriya Rifles' Captain Upmanyu Singh was injured while leadingan operation to flush out the terrorist holed up in a house in Sopore's ModelTown area.Captain Singh was from Gwalior.A senior policeofficer based in Srinagar said, the reports suggest that around 100 Pakistaniterrorists have crossed over to Jammu and Kashmir from north Kashmir and spreadall over the valley.The reports of infiltration of large number ofmilitants from across comes amid the demands of removal of Armed Forces SpecialPowers Act and security forces bunkers from various parts of the valley.
