HYDERABAD: Linking their involvement in the twin blasts of August 25, as well as the one at the Mecca Masjid in May this year, police on Saturday booked Abdul Shahid alias Bilal and 14 others for conspiring against the state.
The FIR was registered on the basis of the confession made by Sheik Abdul Nayeem alias Sameer which tied the 15 people to the smuggling of 10 kilograms of RDX from Bangladesh.
A total of 10 sections were applied, the prescribed sentences ranging from 10 years in prison to life imprisonment, and even death.
Those who were booked for conspiracy include Nayeem, currently in Chanchalguda jail, and Shoaib Jagirdar, who was granted bail as recently as Friday.
The special investigation team slapped the case against him on Saturday. Others named in the case were Abu Hamza alias Asif, Khan Amjad, Quadir, Kaleem, Majid, Rasheed, Majnu, Tanveer, Imran Khan, Rafiuddin and Habib-ul-Haq. Police said no arrests were made yet.
"We have booked cases against 15 people for conspiring against the state. The hunt is on for the people in this list, not yet in our custody, as well as others who might be involved in these recent acts of terrorism," city police commissioner Balwinder Singh said.
Under crime number 100/2007, the FIR was lodged for criminal conspiracy to commit an offence, waging or attempting to wage war or abetting the waging of war against the government of India.
