A Bench headed by Justice Aftab Alam agreed and posted the appeal for further hearing on November 29.
This means, the October 30 order of the apex court passed on the CBI's appeal, which was filed within hours of the HC granting him bail, will remain in force asking him to stay out of Gujarat till further orders. The SC had refused to cancel the bail granted to Shah but ensured that he stayed out of the state till further orders taking note of CBI's apprehension that he would influence the witnesses.
A Bench comprising Justices Aftab Alam and R M Lodha had heard an urgent appeal filed by the probe agency airing serious apprehension that release of Shah on bail would give him a licence to influence witnesses in the case, given the political clout he enjoyed in the BJP-ruled state. The SC had issued notices to Shah and Gujarat government seeking their responses by November 10 and posted the CBI's appeal for detailed hearing on November 15. With the postponement, the matter will come up for hearing on November 29.
