Amit Shah takes 'Italian culture' dig at Congress after Kharge attacks PM Modi

NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday slammed Congress after the party's president Mallikarjun Kharge accused Prime Minister Modi of encashing artictle 370 abrogation for votes and talking about it at places where he should have talked about the works he did for the farmers.

Taking to X, the Union minister posted, "It is shameful to hear that the Congress party is asking, "Kashmir se kya waasta hai?"



"I would like to remind the Congress party that J&K is an integral part of India, and every state and citizen has the right over J&K, just as the people of J&K have the right over the rest of India. The Congress doesn’t know that many brave sons of Rajasthan have sacrificed their lives for peace and security in Kashmir," Shah added.

In his veiled remark, home minister Amit Shah also attacked congress leader Sonia Gandhi and said, "But it is not merely the fault of the Congress leaders. It is mostly the Italian culture of the Congress party that is to blame for not understanding the very idea of India."

Amit Shah's response came after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge described PM Modi as a 'leader of liars' earlier on Saturday and sought to know what steps he has taken to fulfil the guarantees given by him earlier.

Referring to the prime minister's public address in Churu on Friday, Kharge said Modi talked about Article 370 abrogation at a place where he should have talked about the works he did for farmers.

Congress president Kharge also questioned the country's foreign policy under the BJP government and claimed that China encroaching on Indian land and changing the names of Indian villages but PM Modi was not talking about it.

Kharge said, "He (Modi) claims that he has a 56-inch chest.... whether it is 56 inch, 55 or 54, (we) will call a tailor, measure it and see what it is."

"PM Modi, his people and the RSS say that if you give two-thirds majority, we will change the constitution of this country," the Congress president said.
