NEW DELHI: Home minister Amit Shah Monday paid obeisance and sought blessings at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib on the occasion of Parkash Purab (that marks the birth centenary) of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh.

In a post on X, Shah said, "On the occasion of Parkash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, an epitome of religious devotion, sacrifice and courage, today I paid obeisance at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in New Delhi and received the blessings of Satsang."

Earlier, Shah said Guru Gobind Singh, "who sacrificed everything for the protection of culture, religion and humanity, remained firm on his principles in the face of fanatic invaders". He said the tenth Sikh Guru's life, a symbol of sacrifice, valour and dedication, will continue to guide everyone for eternity. He added that the life of Guru Gobind Singh, "who fought steadfastly against injustice and oppression, is a unique example of sacrifice, bravery and service".

Guru Gobind Singh, founder of Sikh warrior community or Khalsa Panth, was born in Jan 1666 at Patna Sahib.
