Singing in Hindi, Odia, Kannada, Ambedkarite rappers all over India are raising questions that will make you squirm in your seats

You might see them on YouTube, performing on campuses, protest events or community events. And while their verses might get your feet tapping, if you listen a little closer to the lyrics, they will also have you thinking about casteism, discrimination and equality in Indian society.

For many young Ambedkarite rappers, the dream is still to get support from big music companies and to reach audiences much beyond their communities. In their rhymes they celebrate their Dalit, tribal or Bahujan identities and aren’t afraid to talk of the atrocities their ancestors faced.
