NEW DELHI: Ambala is one of the 10 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Haryana. This constituency covers the entire Panchkula and Ambala districts and part of Yamunanagar district. It is reserved for scheduled caste (SC) candidates.
According to the 2011 census, Ambala's population is 1,128,350 of which male and female were 598,703 and 529,647 respectively.

Schedule: Date of voting and resultThe 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Ambala will be held on 25th May (Phase 6). The counting of votes will be on June 4.
Candidates:The primary contest for the Ambala Lok Sabha seat is between Banto Kataria of the
BJP and Varun Chaudhary of the Congress. BJP, grappling with significant anti-incumbency sentiment, has nominated Banto Devi Kataria, the 59-year-old wife of the late MP Rattan Lal Kataria, who secured victories in the constituency in 1999, 2014, and 2019. Meanwhile, Varun, the current MLA from the Mullana (reserved) assembly segment and the son of seasoned Congress leader Phool Chand Mullana, is known for his public concern in the assembly. He has been drawing crowds and captivating them with his incisive speeches.
Main parties:The Ambala Lok Sabha seat has a total of 14 candidates in the running, including Kiran Punia from the Jannayak Janta Party and Gurpreet Singh from the Indian National Lok Dal.
In 2019, Ambala was the stage for an intense electoral showdown. This district boasted a significant 71.12% voter turnout in that year. BJP contender Rattan Lal Kataria emerged victorious in 2019 with a commanding lead of 3,42,345 votes, garnering a total of 7,46,508 votes. Kataria triumphed over Selja of the INC, who secured 4,04,163 votes in the contest.
