Ambala agriculture officer suspended for negligence in election duty

AMBALA: Taking a strict action for negligence in election duty, the Election Commission has suspended block agriculture officer (BAO) of the agriculture department in Ambala district on Thursday, as he was caught drunk. A letter has also been written to take action against an exemptee-ASI of the police department.

Ambala district election officer (DEO) Shaleen said that BAO Pankaj Kumar of agriculture department, who was on duty in the Flying Squad team, was found drunk. He said therefore, a recommendation was sent for taking action against him.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the director of the agriculture department has issued instructions to suspend BAO Pankaj with immediate effect.

Ambala DEO Shaleen said that employees of different departments have been deputed on election duty. “The employees and officers should discharge their duties promptly and without negligence, else strict action would be taken against them”, said DEO Shaleen.
