TRICHY: A farmer, identified as Vijayan N, noticed a crack on a track between Trichy and Tiruvarur in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday morning and alerted railway authorities.
The farmer and a gatekeeper at a nearby level crossing stopped the Manargudi- Trichy- Manamadurai passenger train by waving a red flag before it reached the fractured portion of the track and averted a possible accident.
Railway officials and engineers arrived at the spot and repaired the track. They appreciated the farmer for alerting the concerned people in time.
The Manargudi- Trichy- Manamadurai passenger train and the Madurai-Mannargudi Semmozhi Express train were delayed by more than an hour following the detection of the crack.
