Akhilesh hits back at Modi, Shah: 'Cash seized belonged to BJP men'
LUCKNOW: Reacting sharply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah’s attack over the seizure of cash from Kanpur perfume trader, Samajwadi Party chief
“The cash recovered from the premises of Piyush Jain in Kanpur and Kannauj explains how demonetisation has failed. The cash seized belongs to BJP supporters. I dare the government to release the call details of Piyush Jain. Let people know who all were in touch with him. The stacks of currency notes recovered have details of banks from which the new notes were issued. The government must find out who got these currency notes issued from the banks,” he said addressing a public meeting in Unnao which was a part of his 9th leg of
Akhilesh went on to claim that the government had initially targeted an SP leader who has a name similar to that of Piyush Jain. “On the basis of a half-baked tip-off they raided their own trader and tried to connect him with our party. But now that they have failed to find any connection between the two, they are levelling baseless allegations,” Akhilesh said interacting with the media after the public meeting.
In response to Amit Shah’s attack, Akhilesh took to Twitter saying that shaken by the incidents in Hathras, Agra, Gorakhpur and Lakhimpur, even the supporters of BJP are now saying A for Ab, B for Bhajapa, C for Chhor and D for Di (Have shunned BJP now).
The SP chief went on to question the BJP leadership on their “silence over the promises they made in their manifesto”. Speeches of BJP leaders have no mention of whether the farmers income has been doubled or not when in reality it has been halved because of the rise in prices of fertilizers and fuel which they use for irrigation and ploughing, Akhilesh said. People want to know the number of government jobs that the BJP has given but the leaders do not talk about it, he said.
“What to talk of doubling farmers income when the son of Union minister of state for home intentionally mowed down farmers under his jeep as per police probe. They have even reduced the quantity of fertilizers per bag. This is how BJP has humiliated farmers,” the former UP CM said.
