​Akbar’s silver rupee to warrior’s helmet: Stunning images of artefacts will transport you to Mughal era​

The newly curated Humayun Tomb World Heritage Site Museum, set to open on August 1, transports visitors to the grandeur of the Mughal era with 700 artefacts, including Bahadur Shah Zafar’s throne and intricate antiques. Among the exhibits are Emperor Akbar’s silver rupee and coins from all 18 Mughal emperors, offering a glimpse into the dynasty’s history.

One of the most striking exhibits is Emperor Akbar’s silver rupee, inscribed with Ram and dating back to CE 1596. The collection includes an extensive array of coins representing all 18 Mughal emperors, providing a fascinating insight into the dynasty’s history.

A Mughal warrior’s helmet, an astrolabe, and a celestial sphere. The helmet, forged with care, once shielded a valiant Mughal soul on the battlefield. Beside it, the astrolabe, unveils the cosmos, mapping stars and secrets. The celestial sphere depicts the Mughal's perspective of what the world was like.

The Taj-i-izzat or "the crown of glory" was a special headgear worn by Humayun himself, the second Mughal emperor of India. It consisted of a cap and a wrapping cloth, and it held significant value.

The 18-foot-tall golden kalash, with its intricate design and historical significance, once graced the dome of Humayun’s tomb, adding cultural magnificence to this architectural beauty.

A replica of the top of Neela Gumbad, a tomb located at Humayun's tomb. To date, no one still knows who is buried inside, but it is theorised that an attendant of a Mughal Noble was buried there during the reign of Jahangir.

A beautiful miniature replica of the Humayun's tomb will also be featured at the museum. This will help people of all ages to understand and cherish the architectural masterpiece.

This is a miniature version of Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin complex present at the museum. The real complex houses over 70 graves, including those of Amir Khusrau, Nizamuddin’s disciple, and Jehan Ara Begum, Shah Jahan’s daughter, both prominent personalities during the Mughal period.

The museum also features a replica of the Dargah canopy. The canopy is located inside the Dargah Ajmer Sharif, which is a Sufi shrine and houses the tomb of Sufi saint, Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti.
