NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister
Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday launched a sharp attack on the opposition AIADMK-led NDA, as reported by PTI. He warned voters that voting them to power would make the state "retrogressive" and urged voters to choose the
DMK combine to sustain the pace of growth.
Addressing a poll campaign in Villupuram in support of party candidates Lakshmanan (Villupuram) and Gowtham Dravidamani (Vanur), the DMK youth wing secretary appealed to the people to "annihilate" the
AIADMK and BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.
"Prove in this election that the AIADMK and its ally the BJP have no space in Tamil Nadu. Annihilate them in the polls, and wisely choose the DMK to sustain the pace of growth in the state," he said.
Udhayanidhi alleged that the AIADMK had "conspired" to halt the monthly entitlement scheme for women heads of families, urging voters to reject the opposition party in the April 23 election.
The deputy chief minister announced that the DMK would launch an Rs 8,000 coupon scheme for homemakers immediately after forming the government.
Recalling the DMK's performance in the previous election, Udhayanidhi pushed for a clean sweep this time.
"During the previous election we won four out of seven seats in this district. Ensure we secure all the seven assembly constituencies this time," he urged.
Elections for 234 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 23. The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance is seeking to retain power, while the AIADMK-led NDA is attempting to stage a comeback. Also See:
