HISAR: Having failed to tie the nuptial knot, a lovelorn couple apparently decided on a suicide pact and died after consuming poison in Balsamand village of Bishnoi-dominated Adampur subdivision on Sunday.
Anita Rani, 16, and Murari Kumar, 25, belonged to the same village and had been in love for the past two years. While Anita was a student of class VIII, Murari a school dropout.
In what appears to be an excerpt from a Bollywood movie, the couple when expressed their feelings towards each other to their parents, they were told to end their relationship. The couple then decided to flee from home on Saturday. However, when their parents lodged police complaints against each other, the couple decided to end their lives. They were found dead in fields of Balsamand on Sunday.
"We found a poisonous substance near the spot (where the bodies were found), though no suicide note has been recovered. We have sent the bodies for postmortem and started inquest proceedings. At the same time, we are also not ruling out the possibility of the two being murdered," said inspector Raghuvir Singh, investigation officer.
