BATHINDA: Four persons, including the station house officer (SHO) of Bathinda Kotwali police station, were booked on charges of abetment to suicide on Friday evening.
The police registered a case on the basis of a suicide note recovered from the pocket of 50-year-old Mohan Lal, a property dealer. In his note, Lal, who consumed a poisonous substance, alleged that three local property dealers — Ravi Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Ram Lal — duped him of a huge amount, and hatched a conspiracy to blackmail him in connivance with Ranbir Singh, SHO Kotwali.
‘‘They picked me up from my house two weeks ago and forcibly clicked my photographs with a girl,’’ says the suicide note.
‘‘The accused police officer and dealers used the photographs to harass my husband, forcing him to end his life on Friday,’’ alleged Lal’s wife.
