MUMBAI: Faisal Khan, brother of actor Aamir Khan, filed an application in the Bandra Metropolitan Court on Monday, stating that he is physically and mentally fit and that the court should grant him his freedom. Faisal has also submitted a medical certificate from a private psychiatrist that gives him a clean chit.
Incidentally, on December 13, the progress report submitted by Maharashtra government-run J J Hospital stated that Faisal Khan suffered from schizo-affected psychosis and "his insight and judgement continues to be impaired" and "he needs to remain under supervision".

A report by KEM Hospital, where Faisal Khan was taken by his father Tahir Husain for a check-up, too, has drawn similar conclusions.
Magistrate Pankaj Shah has now asked actor Aamir Khan to reply to Faisal's application. Khan will file his reply on December 19. On Saturday, Tahir Husain had filed an application stating that he couldn't take care of his son and that custody should be given to his elder son Aamir. Aamir Khan's advocate Mihir Gheewala, when contacted by TOI, said, "We have been asked to file a reply to Faisal's application and not his father plea." Besides, he said that the claim for custody of Faisal Khan by his mother Zeenat and Aamir Khan is already pending in court.
Meanwhile, Faisal Khan talked to reporters outside the court and said, "I will not go back to Aamir Khan. My father has done a U-turn as he wants money. I already have a certificate which clearly states that I am fit and don't need to be in anybody's custody."
