They were swiftly escorted into waiting police vehicles with black curtains and driven directly to their hometowns, mainly in Mehsana and Gandhinagar.

Two police vehicles from Gandhinagar and Mehsana had been deployed at the airport since early morning, along with over 40 police personnel stationed inside and outside the premises.

The vehicles left the airport almost immediately after all passengers had boarded. Police cited security and debriefing as reasons for the swift action.

ACP R G Oza said the eight deportees included six men, a woman, and a child.

"These individuals are domiciled in north Gujarat. They will be escorted to their residences by police teams," he said.

At district headquarters, they were to be questioned before being sent home under police escort.

"Crime branch, along with CID (IB), has been tasked with questioning the returnees to understand the route they took, the camps they were held in, and the agents they were in contact with during their journey. Prima facie, almost all were caught at the border in the past month or so while attempting to cross into the US," said police.
