The results of the recent assembly elections introduce us to a complex political configuration. BJP’s impressive victories in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh have re-established its electoral dominance in the northern states. The party, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, has consolidated its position for the next Lok Sabha election.
Congress’s performance, however, cannot be underestimated. Although the party could not manage to form governments in the Hindi belt, it was able to pose a serious challenge to BJP.
