NEW DELHI: RK Gaur, who was the backbone of the Central Bureau of Investigation's information wing, hung his boots on Sunday after 26 years of service at the agency, officials said.
Gaur was the face of the CBI for media briefings and a key interface between the agency and journalists. Credited with handled many tricky situations for the probe agency during his over two-decade-long stint, Gaur had joined as an inspector on deputation from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 1997.
Officials said that he had retired in 2020 from the rank of Dy SP and Press Information Officer, but the then CBI director Rishi Kumar Shukla asked him to stay back given his knowledge on the functioning of the central probe agency. He was engaged as a consultant on contract in its media section.
