2 workers die in illegal coal mine

Two coal miners died in an illegal rat-hole mine in the MargheritaLedo tea belt area of Assam's Tinsukia on Tuesday. Police said inhalation of poisonous gas is suspected to have caused the deaths.

The deceased were identified as Raju Rabha of Meghalaya and Dhireswar Kachari of Assam's Goalpara . Another worker was rescued from the mine and hospitalised.

Rat hole mining, despite being illegal, is rampant.
