2 killed as CPM, RSS workers clash in Kerala
KANNUR: Two more people were killed as clashes between RSS and CPM activists continued at Kannur in Kerala for the third consecutive day on Friday. While a CPM cadre, Anil Kumar, was killed near Panoor, a BJP activist, Suresh Babu, was hacked to death at Kodiyeri.
So far five people have lost their lives. On Thursday, alleged CPM activists hacked to death an RSS worker while a day before, two RSS workers and a BJP activist lost their lives in separate incidents.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, CM V S Achuthanandan expressed concern over the killings and appealed for peace.
Wednesday's violent incidents were sparked by an attack on an RSS leader, K V Sumesh, by a group of alleged CPM activists, at Talassery bus stand. Soon suspected RSS/BJP activists attacked a CPM man Renjith at the same spot.
While Renjith succumbed to his injuries, Sumesh was shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
On Thursday, alleged CPM activists attacked and killed two BJP activists,Nikhil and Santosh. Home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said additional forces had been rushed to the scene.
