srinagar: even as pakistan shelled indian positions and there was exchange of light arms fire along the border in jammu and kashmir, 15 persons, including 11 terrorists and one soldier, were killed in different terrorism related incidents in the state since thursday. a powerful grenade, aimed at a security vehicle, missed the target and exploded in the compound of the heavily-guarded j&k high court here on friday, official sources said.
the sources said the grenade was aimed at a security vehicle parked outside the boundary wall of the high court near the busy jehangir chowk in the heart of the city. no one was injured in the explosion, they said. no terrorist outfit has owned responsibility for the attack so far. a police spokesman told times news network that security forces comprising the bsf, army and sog of kashmir police killed six hizbul mujahideen terrorists during an encounter at nakhpathri in anantnag. some arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of the encounter. in a similar encounter, the forces killed two terrorists belonging to jaish-e-mohammad at kokernag in anantnag district. one soldier and a civilian were also killed in the encounter, the police said. terrorists lobbed a hand grenade at a bsf picket at gole market in karan nagar here on friday afternoon. the grenade exploded on the road without causing any damage, said the bsf spokesman. terrorists shot dead a sarpanch, mohammad karim, in bafliaz area on friday, official sources said. pakistani troops fired mortar shells on indian positions in poonch and rajouri areas and exchanged light arms fire in jammu and kathua districts along the border since thursday evening, official sources said here on friday. pakistan troops also fired several mortar shells on forward posts in noushera sector on friday morning.
