'I fell in love with Kabhie Kabhie'

The one film that comes closest to an inspiration has to be <img align="left" src="/photo/586814.cms" alt="/photo/586814.cms" border="0" />Yash Chopra''s <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Kabhie Kabhie</span>.After watching the film, I wanted to meet him and see his persona. And when I did see him, I thought he looked just like my dad! I''ve loved most of his films.<br /><br /><span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Kabhie Kabhie </span>is a film that I''ve seen on several occasions. Although, I didn''t like the climax too much, I wouldn''t even think about rewriting it, as it is a classic and not to be tampered with.<br /><br />The film starred Amitabh Bacchan, Rakhee, Rishi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman and Neetu Singh. One of the many admirable qualities about the film was its cast and the portrayal of characters. I remember falling in love with the character that Shashi Kapoor portrays. He was the coolest father I''d ever seen on screen. His relationship with his son, played by Rishi Kapoor, was so casual and informal. More like a buddy than anything else really. I always aspired to have that kind of a relationship with my father. In my case of course, the age difference was so much that my dad comes close to being both a father and a grandfather!<br /><br /><img align="left" src="/photo/586815.cms" alt="/photo/586815.cms" border="0" />The story spans over 20 years and starts with a romance between Amitabh Bachchan and Rakhee. Amitabh is a poet, and when things don''t work out between the two because of trivial family issues, the two go their separate ways. Amitabh immerses himself in his poetry and Rakhee gets married to Shashi Kapoor. While the marriage between Rakhee and Shashi Kapoor becomes picture perfect, Amitabh''s life takes a different turn. His attempt to forget his past by marrying Waheeda Rehmaan becomes nothing but an unsuccessful effort.<br /><br />Going on to the next generation, the film shows how Shashi Kapoor and Rakhee''s son, Rishi Kapoor, and Waheeda Rehman''s daughter Neetu Singh, from her prior relationship, come together. The duo is joined by Naseem, who is Amitabh and Rakhee''s daughter. <br /><br />When I saw <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Kabhie Kabhie</span>, I fell in love with the depth it had. Lyrically, the film was very rich. I don''t think I understood the words so well back then. But they still fascinated me. It was so beautiful that it made me want to fall in love.
