West Indies stunned India by four runs to capture the opening Twenty20 International on Thursday as the tourists flopped in pursuit of a modest 150-run target.

Fast bowlers Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd and Obed McCoy shared six wickets as the West Indies claimed a tense four-run victory over a young India side.

Chasing 150 to win, India lost wickets at regular intervals and the required run rate climbed beyond their reach as Debutant Tilak Varma top-scored with 39 off 22 balls.

Well-placed at 77-3 in the 11th over thanks to debutant Varma's top score and 21 from Suryakumar Yadav, India then lost six wickets for just 68 runs.

Skipper Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Shubhman Gill, Sanju Samson struggled to force the pace on a slow pitch at the Brian Lara Stadium.
