The proposal to conduct Class 12 board exams in July-August with the evaluation process stretching up to September, if accepted, will hamper the college admission schedule and may affect plans of the students who wish to study abroad, according to school principals.
The final decision on the fate of Class 12 board exams will be based on widest possible consultative process, and it will also be the best possible option keeping in mind the current situation and students' future prospects, government sources said on Monday.
The Telangana government is planning to go ahead with its intermediate board exams, in tune with the Central Board of Secondary Education’s plan. The Union minister of education Ramesh Pokhriyal held a national-level consultation with government officials from all the states on Sunday to discuss conducting the class 12 exams and professional courses entrance exams. Various options regarding the methodology, process, duration, and timings of the exams were discussed.
The Centre said it will consider suggestions of states before taking a decision on the Class 12 board exams even as a discussion convened by the education ministry on Sunday saw most states favouring holding of examinations even if in a truncated form.
