Make your own ad and crash the IPL
Ever sat through numerous commercials on TV and thought that you could come up with something better? Now is your chance. Pepsi’s Crash the Pepsi IPL programme has challenged consumers to create their next ad, and the winning ads will be aired during the IPL. More than 500 entries have poured in from across the country for the challenge.
A jury comprising actor and the brand’s ambassador, Ranbir Kapoor, music director Pritam, filmmaker Gautham Menon and author and advertising veteran Anuja Chauhan will hand-pick the winning entries.

“It’s incredible that consumers have creative control, and on a platform as big as the IPL. I am excited to be a part of the jury,” says Ranbir.

One of the participants, Nikita Deshpande, took on the creative challenge in between writing novels and working in films as an assistant director. Today, she was declared the winner for the first week of the IPL, and her ad film Served is going on air.
Nikita made her ad on a bare minimum budget, with the help of her friends. An alumna of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai, she got a crew of friends from Mumbai’s Whistling Woods International to participate. They shot a spread of signature dishes from the home cities of the Pepsi IPL teams, of course with Pepsi as an accompaniment. And what’s next for Nikita, now that she’s pulled off what India’s best filmmakers aspire for? “I love writing and making films. So I think I’ll just keep doing that,” she said.
