Work-from-home scam
Scammers target job applicants via emails, fake job listings, and phone calls and claim to offer high-paying remote or work-from-home jobs in order to trick them into sharing their personal and financial information. Here are some tips to stay safe from such scams.
Verify the company’s information
Always check the company website, job profile, social media presence and employee or customer reviews to verify the legitimacy of the entity.
Do not make payments
Scammers often ask people to make payments to secure the job. Legitimate companies do not ask for such payments.
Refrain from responding to offers from unverified sources
Avoid replying to emails, texts or phone calls from people claiming to offer remote jobs with a “great” salary.
Apply for jobs using trusted platforms
Always apply for jobs via trusted platforms with vetting processes for job listings.
