By: Stuti SinghBefore turning on the AC, make sure there is no electricity running through it.
Do read the users’ guide before installing the air conditioner.
Filters prevent dust, airborne particles, and other particles from entering the home. Make sure that you clean the filters regularly.
A blocked drain can cause trouble to the AC. Do check the drain, as it can hinder airflow and damage the air conditioner.
Users are suggested to regularly wipe down the outer unit using a feather duster or a soft cloth.
The air outlet on the AC can easily catch dust. Clean the area to avoid dust from blowing out as anyone in the room can inhale it.
To check temperatures, use a calibrated thermometer for accurate readings.
Keep a tab on the indoor unit of your AC. It may create a strange sound if there are any loose parts or damage caused.
Do check that all buttons, covers and flaps are working properly and none are coming loose.
It is required to test run the AC during the season you are not using it.
Small insects can enter the aircon unit and cause physical and electrical damage to the AC. Hence, cleaning the area around the AC can help prevent these issues.
Heavy objects kept on the outdoor unit can impact airflow around the unit. It is an endless list; avoid keeping cartons, boxes, tolls and other equipment on the outdoor unit.
Use a spray and clean the exterior area of the outdoor unit.
If you come across any absurd noise which may happen due to any loose part or broken fan blade, fix it right away to avoid any further damage.
Ensure that no wire is broken or burnt, and it may disrupt the flow of electric current through the wires. Broken wires, when touched, can cause electric shock.
Check insulation around the AC on a regular basis, as it carries refrigerant between the evaporator (indoor) and condenser (outdoor) units. The insulation helps to maintain thermal efficiency within the system.
Check the level of the condenser with a level on top of the unit. If the levels are unmatched, it would then require reinstallation.
The first sign that your AC is short of refrigerant is poor performance. Refrigerant plays a vital role in transferring heat that results in air conditioning or heating for reverse cycle AC systems.
Do check and fill in all the warranty information required. Failing to do so can void the warranty.
