Samsung’s latest smartphones have a Desi touch
BENGALURU: With India being one of the main markets for Samsung, the company will start selling the new Galaxy Note 10 series phones in the West and in India simultaneously. Samsung has confirmed that both the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ smartphone will be manufactured in India itself to cater to local demand.
Apart from the hardware changes, Samsung has introduced a range of software features in the new Note 10 series that makes the phones stand apart. Samsung India SVP and chief marketing officer Ranjivjit Singh in an interaction with TOI Tech-Gadgets Now said that some key software features of the new Note 10 series were also made in India at the Samsung R&D Institute in Bengaluru. This facility is the R&D centre for Samsung outside South Korea.

“It’s a proud moment for the Samsung India team to to make some key features of the Note 10 phones that would be used by people globally. Features like AR Doodle, Live focus video and Intelligent gallery are made in Bengaluru,” said Singh.
The AR Doodle features the S Pen to be used to personalize photos with effects and doodles and animations and that these doodles are not static and moves with the subject. The Live focus video allow users to record videos in bokeh mode with three preset filters. And lastly, the intelligent gallery lets Note 10 users mark photos in the gallery with hashtags.
For the first time, Samsung is offering a Galaxy Note device in two sizes. The Galaxy Note 10 comes with a 6.3-inch display while the bigger Galaxy Note 10+ offers a 6.8-inch screen. “We wanted to give people the option to use the features of the new Note 10 phone in a compact form factor, so, there are two sizes now,” said Singh.
Talking about the demand expectations of the new Galaxy Note 10 series, Singh claimed that the high prices are not a deterrent. “We have got twice the number of pre-bookings for the new Note 10 series compared to the Galaxy Note 9,” he added.
