There have been a lot of rumours swirling around Apple launching an affordable iPhone for a while now. This rumoured smartphone is supposed to be the successor of the iPhone SE. A report by Macrumours has now suggested that this ‘budget’ iPhone will reportedly go in production in February 2020. This new rumour is in line with previous which have suggested that Apple will launch the new ‘budget’ iPhone in first quarter of 2020.

As per Macrumours report, which cites an analyst from Barclays, the budget iPhone will go in production at the beginning of February. The Barclays analyst in their research note suggested that they met with manufacturers from Apple’s supply chain and gave their estimates on basis of that.
In the past, renowned Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has also indicated that the latest iPhone will arrive by March. Kuo has also said that this new iPhone will look pretty much like the iPhone 8 (launched in 2017) but will be powered by the new A13 Bionic chip which is found in the 2019 iPhone models. While Apple never reveals how much RAM iPhones have, Kuo has said that iPhone SE2 will have 3GB RAM.
The rumoured iPhone SE2 — if it borrows looks and form factor from iPhone 8 — is expected to have a 4.7-inch display. It is rumoured that it won’t have FaceID but will be secured by TouchID. This means that we can expect a Home button on the iPhone SE2 as well.
Earlier this year, Nikkei had first reported rumours of an affordable iPhone. Apple has become more price conscious it looks like rumours of iPhone SE2 are true indeed. Even with the current iPhones, the iPhone 11 was launched at Rs 12,000 less when compared to last year’s affordable iPhone, the XR. There’s no information as of now regarding the price of the expected successor of iPhone SE2.
