CES 2024: Nvidia is bringing graphics chips with AI capabilities to PCs

As the world moves towards AI, Nvidia has been one of the go-to companies to partner with. The company’s chips are known for handling and running sophisticated AI models, and now the US chipmaker is bringing the power of AI to personal computers and laptops. Nvidia has announced the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series family of GPUs.

The series includes the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER graphics processing units (GPUs) gaming and AI power. These GPUs come with specialised Tensor cores to handle AI applications in gaming, creation and everyday tasks.

The visuals are supercharged with Nvidia Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and generative AI apps like Adobe Photoshop benefit from Tensor Cores, speeding up the workflow.

GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series features
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is claimed to power fully ray-traced games in 4K resolution and is said to be 1.4x faster than the RTX 3080 Ti without even activating DLSS Frame Generation. With DLSS 3, it doubles that dominance, Nvidia says.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER targets 1440p/4K lead and comes with up to 1.6x speed as compared to the RTX 3070 Ti's and 2.5x with DLSS 3.

Finally, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is said to pack a 20% core increase compared to its sibling, surpassing the RTX 3090's performance with less power. DLSS 3 makes it 1.5x faster, the company noted.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER and 4070 SUPER, an Nvidia Founders Edition Design will be available direct from Nvidia.com and select retailers. Custom boards, including stock-clocked and factory-overclocked models for all GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series GPUs, will be available from top add-in card providers such as Asus, Colorful, Gainward, Galax, Gigabyte, INNO3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac.
