Udumba Movie Review

Critic's Rating: 2.0/5
Udumba traces the story of Shiva, an orphan, his relationship with his love interest, Geetha, and his antics with his friends. What happens when Shiva realises that his past was not what he believed it to be, is pretty much what makes up the rest of the film.
Udumba has all the elements of a hero-centric commercial entertainer - fights, song-and-dance sequences, drama and comedy (which includes plenty of innuendos). While the formulaic treatment largely remains familiar, certain comedy scenes - the non-innuendo ridden ones - do break away from the mold and pack quite the punch. The first half is fast-paced, and in comparison, the second half seems drawn out. Most of the actors perform what the role requires them to. Chandrakala Mohan is memorable as the heroine's mother and Sharath Lohitashwa fits his role as the baddie.
A more succinct second half might have made for a tighter script. Regardless, Udumba is likely to tick all the boxes for a Pawan Shourya fan. If you are looking for a masala entertainer, then this might be the film for you.
