While Akash Shetty shows some promise, Roopika is not convincing

A completely commercial film set in a village in Mandya. Directed by G Umesh, the story focuses on the romance between a girl and boy, and the village politics where two persons struggle to win elections. Their enmity adds to the story - many such formula scripts have already found their name in Sandalwood years ago. The romantic track revolves around Shankara (Akash Shetty), who is unemployed, and Roopika (Radha). She wants her boyfriend to be employed and lead a dignified life in the village. Though he gets a job in a company, it cheats him and the people of the village by taking huge sums of money as investments. Circumstances make him a director and actor in Bangalore. The political track has some comedy with Jade Gowda (Sadhu Kokila) struggling to find a foothold in the village politics to win assembly elections. He becomes a film producer, but this turns out to be tragic for a couple of directors. We also have Boregowda who plays spoilsport to Jade Gowda's ambition to become a politician. The rest is drama on how each one of them wins their battle. While Akash Shetty shows some promise, Roopika is not convincing. Though you can enjoy Sadhu Kokila's comedy, it's difficult to see him fighting his enemies. Music by Rajesh Ramanath is average. Camera by KC Umesh passes muster.
