Asurana Kaiyalli Parijatha Movie Review : A Romantic Drama That Turns Into A Crime Thriller

Critic's Rating: 2.0/5
By Susmita Sameera

Asurana Kaiyalli Parijatha follows Rahul (Karthik GN), a successful ad agency owner who falls in love with Rashmi (Rajini Gowda), a salesgirl working at a clothing store. The first half of the film focuses on the development of their relationship as it gradually becomes serious. However, Sharma (Prabhik Mongaveer), a trusted employee of Rahul, warns Rashmi about Rahul’s past and accuses him of using women in the name of love.

Things take a turn when Rashmi confronts Rahul and unexpectedly finds him with his childhood friend, played by Nisha Koprekar. Misunderstanding the situation, she walks away from the relationship without offering an explanation. Soon after, Rashmi becomes engaged to Sharath (Yash Shetty), an ad director working in the same agency, through an arranged marriage setup. The narrative then shifts into a drama-thriller mode, gradually unfolding the connections between the characters and questioning who can truly be trusted before revealing the clarity in the second half.

What begins as a straightforward romantic drama eventually transitions into a crime thriller involving manipulation, betrayal, murder, fights, and psychological conflict. While the film attempts to blend romance with suspense, the writing often feels dated and predictable. The core storyline remains simple and lacks novelty, with several scenes appearing overly dramatic both in performance and execution.

Technically, the film remains average, though the performances are generally decent across the cast. Senior actors such as KS Sridhar, Manjunath Hegde, and Pramod Shetty appear in brief but noticeable roles. The film primarily explores how people who appear to support a relationship can ultimately manipulate and influence it for their own motives.

Despite its thriller elements and emotional conflicts, the film avoids a completely happy resolution. The ending leaves behind a sense of mystery, adding a slightly unsettling tone to the overall narrative.
