In a meeting that seemed too surreal to be true, the world's tallest woman - Rumeysa Gelgi and the shortest woman Jyoti Amge met at the London Savoy Hotel and together celebrated the unique moment for Guinness World Records Day 2024.
Rumeysa is a 27-year-old web developer from Turkey who is 7 feet 1 inch tall, and Jyoti is a 30-year-old Indian actress who is 2 feet 1 inch tall. Guinness World Records took to Instagram to share a video of the two meeting, and they bonded over shared interests like makeup, self-care, nail art, and more.
Rumeysa told Guinness World Records that she had a wonderful time with Jyoti and that it was her first time meeting her. Rumeysa complimented Jyoti as the most gorgeous lady and said that she waited for a long time to meet her. Rumeysa also explained that it was difficult for both of them to maintain eye contact due to the difference in height, but otherwise quoted that the meeting was great.
Rumeysa Gelgi has a rare condition called the Weaver syndrome that causes accelerated growth and skeletal deformities. Rumeysa was the first ever to have the case diagnosed in Turkey. Rumeysa cannot walk and she uses a wheelchair to move around and stands for a short period using the walker.
Jyoti Amge also stated that she was so happy to look up to the world's tallest woman. She added that she is all the time used to looking up and seeing people taller than her. She played an important role in the US series 'American Horror Story' which is the story about Ma Petite and she has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia.
Jyoti noted that she was delighted to have met Rumeysa for the first time and complimented her for her good nature and added that she felt comfortable talking to her
