Woman reports severe allergy after consuming meal on Vande Bharat Express; IRCTC says ‘lunch on train was…’
A post on social media about food on the Vande Bharat Express is catching eyes and sparking conversation among travellers. What started as one passenger’s experience is now making more people talk about food quality and hygiene on trains, even on premium services.
Ayushi Singh from Ranchi shared what happened to her on a recent journey. She said that after eating food on the Vande Bharat Express, she developed a severe allergy.
Her two-year-old son also fell sick with diarrhea after eating the same food. Ayushi was travelling in coach E1 of train number 22500 on March 27.
She called the situation serious and asked for urgent action. Along with her post, she shared photos and a medical prescription from Maa Ram Pyaari Superspeciality Hospital in Ranchi.
Ayushi also highlighted her disappointment with how the complaint was handled. She wrote, “Worst quality food provided on Vande Bharat Express and insensitive attitude of staff towards complaints. This is my medical prescription describing severe allergy after consuming food in Vande Bharat 22500.”
She added that the water served on the train tasted different, which made her question hygiene standards.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) replied, saying:
“Lunch on Train No. 22500 BSB-DGHR Vande Bharat Express (Coach E1) on 27.03.2026 was checked & found satisfactory. No other complaints received regarding quality, hygiene or safety of food on the day.”
According to them, no other passengers reported any problems that day.
