Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent turned media personality, has been appointed as the new Deputy Director of the FBI. His selection, announced by former President Donald Trump on Sunday, places him in a pivotal role overseeing the bureau’s vast operations, with approximately 38,000 employees under his leadership.
Trump praised Bongino’s dedication to the country, describing him as a patriot with a deep-rooted passion for law enforcement. In a post on Truth Social, he emphasized Bongino’s willingness to step away from his popular podcast, The Dan Bongino Show, in order to serve in this new capacity.
“Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly,” Trump wrote, congratulating Bongino on his new role.
From Law Enforcement to Broadcasting
Bongino’s career path has been anything but conventional. He started out as an officer with the NYPD in the mid-90s before joining the U.S. Secret Service, where he served for over a decade. After leaving government service, he transitioned into the world of media, becoming a prominent conservative commentator and host.
His show, The Dan Bongino Show, has gained a large following, making him a well-known voice in political discussions. He also briefly hosted Unfiltered with Dan Bongino on Fox News until 2023.
Despite multiple unsuccessful congressional runs as a Republican, Bongino remained a strong political voice, using his platform to advocate for conservative policies. His appointment to the FBI marks a significant shift back into public service.

Family and Personal Life
Beyond his public persona, Bongino is a family man. Born and raised in Queens, New York, he comes from an Italian-American background. He is married to Paula Andrea Martinez, who hails from Colombia. The couple shares two daughters: Isabel, 21, who has followed in her father’s footsteps with her own podcast, and Amelia, born in 2012.
The Bongino family resides in Palm City, Florida, where they lead a relatively private life despite Dan’s public career. He has often spoken fondly of his family on social media, once writing, “I’m so proud of my daughter Isabel for the woman she’s become. We celebrated her 18th birthday this past weekend with friends and family and we built memories for a lifetime.”
However, not all of their time in the spotlight has been positive. In 2023, Bongino made headlines after alleging that his wife was forcibly removed from a Palm Beach restaurant for waiting in the wrong line for the restroom. His appointment is bound to be watched closely by several people in the Trump administration.
