Who is Shreesh Jhadav? The brilliant IITian-turned monk who secured 2nd rank in the IIT-JEE entrance exam
What does true success really look like?
While the world is obsessed with high-flying careers, fat paychecks, and fame, one man took a completely unexpected turn. Educated at one of the most prestigious institutions in the country, with a top rank to his name, Shreesh Jadhav chose a path less travelled - one rooted in service and purpose over prestige.
He later aced the GATE exam in Computer Science with a stunning 99.92 percentile in 1989.
Jadhav served as a resident honorary teacher at Ramakrishna Mission school in Narottamnagar, Arunachal Pradesh. He later worked as an honorary lecturer at Ramakrishna Mission Shilpamandira from 1996-1997, per IITK records. From 1997-2006, he lectured and coordinated in computer science, eventually rising to Dean of Research and Computer Science coordinator at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University.
His monastic path as Swami Sarvottamananda amplified his commitment to societal good.

He chose service over spotlight
Despite doors swinging wide open to elite jobs and international gigs, Jadhav chose a different route. Post-PhD, he devoted himself to education for the underserved. Reflecting wisely, he once shared, “I did not make much of renunciation. It is actually you who did it. I left lesser things for something better, and you left better things for the mundane. Now tell me, who actually renounced?”, according to the IIT Kanpur Office of Resources and Alumni.Who is Shreesh Jhadav The brilliant IITian-turned monk who secured 2nd rank in the IIT-JEE entrance exam (Photo: Office of Resources and Alumni IITK)
