On the night of June 2, 2026, around 20 people allegedly attacked Khan Sir's institute, Khan Global Studies (KGS) in Patna. They vandalised the property and beat up a security guard, leading to the famed teacher's bodyguards firing two shots in the air.What has followed is an evolving controversy that has generated headlines worth weeks and assumptions worth a Bollywood plot. It is believed that the incident stemmed from a long-running and violent rivalry between KGS and rival coaching centre Gyan Bindu, headed by Raushan Anand, who was also arrested in connection with the clash.While Bihar is known to be the production ground of the country's future political leaders and government officers, a simple education service has transformed the state's education industry into somewhat of a gang war. Many know who Khan Sir is but what about his rival leader? Here's all you must know about Raushan Sir.Raushan Anand was born into a simple farming family in Dhamsena village, located in Bihar's Saharsa district. Like other families in the region, his family's financial prospects were limited to seasonal harvests and hard labour. With not much income to dispense, he grew up attending government schools, quickly understanding that education was the only bridge that could help him cross the life of poverty to that of fulfilment.At the young age of 15, Raushan left his village and family and moved to Patna to become an engineer. He followed the path to Kota, Rajasthan and cleared the AIEEE exam, securing admission to BIT Mesra, a popular engineering college. However, with the inability to afford expenses such as fees, hostel costs and others, he was forced to discontinue his engineering degree.No matter the circumstances, Raushan refused to back down and return to his village. He began to prepare for the Bihar Police recruitment, the BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) along with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). He successfully cleared the written examination for the Bihar Police, only to fail the physical endurance test. He reached the interview stage for the BPSC, coming close to a stable career, but his name was absent from the final selection list.Each failure pushed him down, but he learned a unique opportunity. He began teaching other aspirants and in exchange, all he asked for was a home-cooked meal instead of cash. It was at this time that he met his true calling, teaching.In September 2017, he formally launched 'Gyan Bindu GS Academy', now Gyan Bindu Coaching. What began with just four students in his first class turned into thousands, taking coaching for Bihar Police, SSC, Railway and Banking exams.According to the investigation by the Bihar Police, the root of the conflict between the coaching centres is around the results of the Bihar Police recruitment examination. Both centres claimed credit for a large number of successful candidates, one claiming 12,000 and the other 10,000. Tension escalated into the institutes tearing down each other's posters and eventually leading to physical fights.One such instance happened in February when the results for 24 forest range officer posts were declared. Abhishek Kumar alias Abhishek Patel topped the list. Soon, both coaching centres laid claims on him. On March 28, Patel visited Khan Sir to be felicitated, angering Raushan Anand who later made public his WhatsApp chats with Patel, where the student was seen discussing the course with him. Anand also accused Khan Sir of buying the topper for Rs 10 lakh. Patel has denied all the allegations. This is just one of the many disputes. Every year following the declaration of the Bihar Police sub-inspector exam results, the rivalry intensifies.An area by the name 'Kisan Cold Storage' which acts as a campus also lies at the heart of this controversy. Located in Musallahpur, Kisan Cold Storage has long been known as a coaching hub. Until 2018-19, the campus housed around 20 coaching centres of various sizes with Gyan Bindu Coaching Centre and Khan Global Studies also operating from there.With many centres shutting down due to Covid-19, Khan Sir expanded his coaching operations to halls and offices that had shut down, leading to the majority of classrooms there belonging to him. Adarsh, a teacher at Gyan Bindu Coaching, claims Khan Sir wants total control of the campus.Over the years, the two teachers have accused each other of numerous acts including bombings and physical attacks.As of now, Raushan sir has been remanded into judicial custody as investigations continue, while a Patna court has stayed the arrest of Khan sir in relation to the case.
