In a surprising move, The Washington Post has cut a large part of its editorial staff, including reporters and editors covering foreign news. One of the biggest names affected is Pranshu Verma, who has been leading the newspaper’s New Delhi bureau.
Sharing the news on X, Verma said, “Heartbroken to share I've been laid off from The Washington Post. Gutted for so many of my talented friends who are also gone. It was a privilege to work here for the past four years. Serving as the paper's New Delhi bureau chief was an honor.”
His words reflect both personal sadness and the impact on many other journalists. The layoffs have affected The Post’s international coverage heavily, including senior reporters like Ishaan Tharoor, a columnist and son of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, as per online media reports.
